Movie Night

I know, I know... it's a Old Movie but that's the fun of  of it all is to the share movies Clay and I love and we sure do love all the Super Hero movies. Clay and I are in the midst of collecting all the Super hero movies. Our newest find is The Green Lantern Movie with Ryan Reynolds and what fun for our collection!  So we pull out the popcorn and pop in the movie and what a big ball of green fun this movie is!  I did enjoy seeing Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and unlike Deadpool you can be a lot safer watching this one with your  family.

and I feel over time it will be cherished much more than Deadpool simply because it can appeal to all ages.  I also enjoyed the planet      the characters and the Ring which we find is way cool. So have some fun with your kids this year Get a copy of Green Lantern and a big bowl of popcorn it's a fun movie filled with fun imagination :)

easy to share in the moment

We are getting our quail ready and it only takes 17 days to incubate them ! The joy of the internet is you can share all your adventures as they happen :)

Thought I would share a vintage post from 2013 with you all :)

Bye bye to Maude.. the crabby hen :)

Once in awhile a chicken shows a little more personality than the rest and so it was with Maude. She was our little Rhode Island Red that was just a crabby little chickie. She inched her way up to    be at the top of the pecking order. Anytime we would feed the chickens she would just bully all the other birds out of the way until she got first crack at it chasing all the others out of the way if they came near the food. Some of our hens would just walk away until Maude moved. As time permits Maude and several of last years hens had to be sold off to make room for all the new pullets who just started laying eggs and we like to sell off the l year old extra hens so that the new owners can have some good layers and we don't get over crowded.. Maude's turn had come up. I miss seeing all the action but the new pullets are so happy now not to have to fight their way to the feeder. I will remember Maude forever as she made her little "debut" in the world.

More canning today... and Clay and I are dog tired... we canned green beans, pickled pickles :) , hot peppers, and also froze peppers, and are dehydrating some more.. It is a lot of work but we know that once winter is here we are going to be so happy we have all this good food in the pantry!

Special note.. we are LOVING MRS. WAGES as the bread and butter pickles are divine and we even canned some GREEN BEANS with it!

how to get rid of ants

Get Rid of Ants Solution

This is a recipe for getting rid of those pesky ants that come every spring and summer. Mix up the solution, pack cotton balls in a jar cover, put the solution on and they will be gone.

Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons boric acid [purchase here: http://amzn.to/11nzGz6]
3 cups warm water

Directions:
1. Mix the sugar and boric acid well.
2. Add the warm water slowly, mixing all the while so it won't be too lumpy.
3. Store in a jar until ready to use.
4. When ready to use, put cotton into the top of a jar lid to fill it and then saturate the cotton to the top.
5. Place it in the location where it is needed.
6. Note: This solution will keep for a long while. A good technique is to drip a drop or two over the edge of the lid to rest on the counter so the ants will find the solution sooner. It sometimes takes a little while for them to find it, but find it they will. When they do, do not disturb them as they drink. They will hang over the edge of the lid and drink for a while and then take it back to the nest killing the colony. Almost overnight they will be gone.
